hi there a Jackson County Middle School parents this is Miss scarf with your digital open house we are so excited to be holding our first open house at the 2223 school year I know that you're working you're not able to make it so we are providing this open house for you did want to introduce you to our teachers this year I know that you have already received messages from them and welcome on memos and probably a lot of other school status messages but we do with our case find the slowest which are 7 through 9 classroom and we have Miss Burks and Miss Greer with are 10 through 12 students so we are so grateful that we have them with us this year everyone is qualified and we are just so grateful to have such an amazing staff of course each of those classes also has amazing paraprofessional assigned each of the classrooms so that I can help take care of all the children's extra knees and divide them up into even smaller groups than they currently are divided and give them more one-on-one attention so we are grateful to all of our staff will be here at JC did want to let you know some information this year that is new we are implementing a new curriculum called into mine this year it is a new math program and students will be able to access everything at the foundational level of math all the way up through a 5th grade level so we are excited to have that program the teachers will be going through some training to make sure that they know how use it effectively with the students we are also implementing are able Assessment program and curriculum functional academics and all of this going to help them be successful in their life and then we have found a tional and functional academic program this year so we are super all of those opportunities that our kids will have to achieve at the highest level and make sure that they have the skills to help them be functional and ready for whatever we also are getting a new library so we are very excited about that will be purchasing books stuff you have suggestions that you would like to see your child please you can send me a. Write down your book suggestions and send them to me I'm super excited to be able to order so many books for the beautiful library that we're going to have and that brings me to our shout out to the Kiwanis Club send so excited about being able to provide a a project for us and they are going to build us something to go in our new library where the kids can climb in a little Hut or something of that nature and we books on the bean bag we're excited to partner with and they also want to do several ongoing project for us and we are excited to have their help this year so shout out to the Kiwanis Club for their volunteer efforts now I have some important date I will be sending this home to you so you don't need to grab a pen and drop this down but we will be having fall break October 7th and an 11 that will be no school for student there is a professional development day on the 7th and that is when our teachers will do that hand2mind training on October 24th through 28th we will be have spirit week and then the week before that before spirit week is the Jackson County Fair and many of you that have been with the school for quite some time you know that the students get to walk over and enjoy the fair and we also do a lots of arts and crafts and participate in the fair competitions with arts and crafts and the fair Booth so be looking for more information about that we're excited need to sign a permission slip for your student to walk over to the fair to see the animals and to do the activities that are available to them there and then our fall festival is coming up on over 28 and we love it love it love it of course we're having trunk or treat and will be advertising on Facebook or spots available if people want to come out and volunteer and give out candy to the kid and we will be having several food set up in the gym as well so the children can enjoy those activities in them letting you know what you call a design contest song on this is our jces school mascot design going to send home a copy of this flyer for you so students across PJ masks Jackson County School District in Resurrection students have been challenged to help us design our new mascot and with that mascot design will be doing all kinds of things with our new Eagle after a designer complete will be creating a big eagle on the fence with the little cups that you slip into the gate and possibly something around the pool as well we're looking to purchase a new door mats with the Eagle Crest eventually put a beautiful mural at the Eagle in the gym and just make our school with warm and welcoming with our new mascot so be looking for more to come about that we are also going to be collaborating with our local authorities and I am super excited about that so I had a person in the community reach out to me this week because someone with a disability person nonverbal was found wandering and it was not one of our students but that did get me to thinking about what if it was one of our students it would be great to have a collaborative relationship with the Google what Police Department with the Sheriff's Office and with the Goshay PD along with Moss Point and again with the the county sheriff's office just so that our kids can be safe I have already spoken with someone at the Pascagoula police department and they have provided a few of these so we are going to do a little photo ID this will go home with you all with parents so that you'll have your child's information in the event that anything happened and the police would be able to intervene quickly knowing that our students were safe and and be able to communicate with them the police department I was very impressed to have autism kids and they provide when they come upon someone who is nonverbal fidgets and weighted blankets things like that to help the person feel more confident find the family so it was a great meeting that I had with that Pascagoula Police Department representative and I look forward to working more with them also be reaching out to local hospitals doctors offices that sort of thing just so they're aware of us and and know what services we offer we do have a 1 to go over the budget with you we have our current Lawrence and Eminem bank is $1,002.70 and then we found some money over the summer on offense at First Federal reached out to us and said that there was an old PTO count from the 90s that they knew we were no longer using and so they have cut us a check and that balance is $1,047.12. Brings our total PTO balance to two and $49.82 that being said I do need a Treasurer at a minimum and some of you have already filled out your PTO volunteer form if you're interested in being the treasurer please do reach out and let me know because we do need someone to handle the money now what do we use the money for talk about that the money is used for like helping the teachers to purchase food items for cooking or rewards and certificates that we're going to give out when the students meet their able we have a lot of activities and parent involvement events coming up each month and we also this year are doing a curriculum theme each month and I hair that the seams on the bottom of this agenda for you and I will come home as well so we do need your help of course we love to do my teacher appreciation events ongoing things like that and then also little things like the competition for the mascot we're offering gift cards for the top winners that sort of thing so we will be looking all the time I'm of ways to spend the money that we raise for our students on things that directly benefit our students in our school so if you're interested and I need help I'm looking forward to working with you and I think that is about all I have for you today I do have more information for you if you'd like more details about the PPL about our fruit fundraisers for the year about what we're proposing all the expenditures to be so we have that in a more detailed list of available for you if you would like so grateful to all of you who could come in person so grateful for all of you that have been because my timer to 11 minutes and 30 seconds and I did not intend to go on that long so we are so grateful that each of you sharing your children with
